IPACS is not a developer that is new to the flight simulation genre. In fact, they had already released two games, and Aerofly FS 2 Flight Simulator is the third one from their studio. Needless to say, they learned from the previous two and made this their best release ever. If you ever wanted to become a pilot, you can fulfill that wish from your home by playing this game.
Are You Ready for Flight School?
Before you dig into the game, you will need to complete the flight school, which is a sort of a tutorial available in the beginning. However, even when you learn the necessary controls, it will still be challenging to control an aircraft. Each of them behaves differently, and you can’t ride them all the same way. The flight physics are realistic, and you have multiple view modes at your disposal, as well as the replay system in case you want to see that loop you made once again.
The positive thing is that you don’t need to watch the tank because you have an unlimited supply of fuel.
Although the developer is from Germany, Aerofly FS 2 Flight Simulator focuses on the USA. There are 150 American airports available within the game. That includes Colorado, Utah, Arizona, Nevada, California, and others. The latest DLC comprises Switzerland, which means you can even fly to Europe.
I Want to Fly So High
As for aircraft, there is a total of 16 available at this moment. The list includes Airbus A320, Corsair F4U, Boeing 737-500, F-18, Baron 58, ASG 29 Glider, and so on. As you can see, the developers tried to include military, commercial, and even personal aircraft to ensure that there is a wide selection available to players. They all look fantastic and the feeling you have while flying varies depending on the choice you make.
It’s worth noting that the game is optimized for VR and that might be its biggest asset. Enjoying the scenery and being a pilot seems very realistic if you are equipped with Oculus Rift or HTC Vive. Some details are missing, such as other planes on the runway and storms to fly through. Instead, the weather conditions are limited to clouds (density, height, and visibility) and wind (turbulence, direction, strength). On the plus side, you can switch between day and night with the press of a button.
